Alt Text Generator

Alt text (alternative text) is an HTML attribute that describes an image in words. Search engines cannot see images — they read alt text to understand image content and include it in image search rankings. Well-written alt text also makes your site accessible to visually impaired users who use screen readers.

Copy the generated alt text and paste it into the alt attribute of your image tag: <img src="image.jpg" alt="your generated alt text here">. In most CMS platforms (WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace) you can set alt text in the image settings panel without touching HTML.

Good alt text is specific and descriptive (says exactly what the image shows), includes relevant keywords naturally without keyword stuffing, stays under 125 characters, and avoids generic phrases like 'image of' or 'photo of'. Each image on a page should have unique alt text.

JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP files up to 5 MB. For best results use clear, high-contrast images. Purely decorative images (dividers, spacers) that convey no information should use empty alt text (alt='') rather than generated text.
